I mean, it must make some people’s heads explode if they can’t neatly categorize you as a “liberal” or a “conservative.” I get liberal idiots who like me at first when they hear that I support health-insurance reform, love France (and have lived there), believe America should open…
When you realize that there’s a gray area, not just black and white, you vote independent. Which is just throwing your vote away. The two-party system runs on blacks and whites that don’t exist in real life. Get over it. It won’t change in our lifetime.
You have to learn to independently support your own opinions. Unfortunately today the US is characterized by extreme partisanship, with party members having a firmer allegiance in their party than in their country.
I’ll leave you with a quote, from a man wiser than almost all of the American population today:
“I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever, in religion, in philosophy, in politics or in anything else, where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. If I could not go to Heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all.” –Thomas Jefferson
There are a series of steps to be taken. First, you will be called a Rino/Dino (Republican/Democrat In Name Only), based on who you are talking to. Then you will have characteristics and beliefs thrust upon you by people who disagree with you, without any basis in reality. Finally, you will join the Middle Majority, which is full of people who may not agree with you on specific cases, but who also find themselves closer to the middle than either extreme.
which would be superb. it would be exciting to have an truthfully communique with somebody who would attempt to tell me why they think of that the bailouts are stable (definite, i understand that Bush began them – i presumed they have been incorrect then too). I desperately prefer to appreciate the coolest judgment at the back of the present administration’s reported methods. i don’t get it, i think of it somewhat is boastful and unsafe. i prefer to have self belief in my government, yet it somewhat is all smoke and mirrors. when I ask I many times get the remark that i’d desire to be stupid to no longer understand, or worse, that the only reason i don’t get it is that i’m racist. i will help some thing that i will understand and consider and that i prefer to be supportive of my President yet by stifling my voice i’m getting nowhere. At this factor I basically experience excluded.
Oh there are plenty spaces for nuances.
You might be considered a Blue coat republican with far left liberal leanings!
Yes there are many who have a mix of liberal and conservative ideas.
You are labeled a “liberal” by conservatives and labeled a “conservative” by liberals … then you don’t have a chance to get elected to public office because you can’t even win your primary.
I guess you are in the middle
You have to choose a side, being in the middle all the time doesn’t help anyone move ahead, either way.
you can be a liberal but never a konservative
