It depends on what you want to do and how much you have to spend. A Celica will be cheaper to mod and there is good aftermarket support for them. With the IS the main issue is probably going to be the automatic transmission, especially if you plan to go turbo and make massive power out of the engine. Both cars are good cars, but i favor the IS especially when its done nicely with JDM Altezza lip kit and front end.
The IS300 is available with a manual transmission (’03 and up I believe) which I would recommend if you’re modifying it and its almost the same inline 6 that they shoved into the Supras, just naturally aspirated. The 1.8 L 4 cylinder found in the Celica GT-S is a workhorse to say the least, but you’ll be hard pressed to get a whole lot more power out of it without boost.
You can swap the 3sgte engine into earlier model celicas if you use the mr2 transmission and parts from a gt4 alltrac.JDM 3sgte ranges in horsepower from 180 to 260…or just buy an alltrac if you have the cash.Later model celicas are underpowered compared to the older “3s” models…if you want a keyword to dearch the net with try st205…this is the top of the line celica of all time.
is300 do Not I repeat do NOT get a Celica!
What’s to small, the car or the space?
it depends on how much you wanna spend….
