Yes they do. That is a pre requisite as well as being over the age of 35.
Yes, when people thought Arnold the Govern-a-tor might make a good candidate on ’08, there was a lot of talk about changing the laws.
confident, yet he can not vote for president in the final election if he remains in that territory his entire lifestyles. Obama became born in Hawaii 2 years after it became a state so he’s elgible. His mom became a US citizen and that still qualifies him to be a organic born citizen and elgible to be president. this question has no longer something to do with Obama. Why is all and sundry making an argument with Obama’s start certificates? He became born interior of united statesa. and one in all his dad and mom became an American. McCain became born in the Panama Canal Zone and no person is fussing approximately his citizenship. it makes no sense.
Yes, and born on the continental United States, and 35 years old, or older.
It’s in the Constitution.
I am not sure, although I think it might be the case. I thought it was the case in Canada, but I guess not, because our 1st Prime Minister was born in Scotland.
I think that we have so many immigrants these days in the US and Canada that is unfair to forbid someone from being leader if they aren’t native born. What if they come here as an infant? I think as long as you are a citizen and have lived in the country for say 30+ years or something you should qualify.
Sorry “DGRHM” but you are wrong, You don’t have to be born in the Continental U.S Obama was born in Hawaii and he is a candidate, though I have no Idea why we would consider electing a known radical Muslim
“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Just want to make a comment for another answerer: It would be veryyyy scary for Arnold the “Governator” to become president if that was all possible. He could barely manage California from what I heard. LOL
