2000 GMC Jimmy, Is getting hard to start. Not starting on the first crank however starts on 2nd or 3rd.?

This is happening within the last couple of months the Jimmy is not starting on the first try. Wants to start on 2nd or 3rd as it is chugging along at first then idles fire. Even after sitting for only 20 min it still does not want to start on the first try. So far it is pointing to a clogged fuel injection poppet…

A very common problem with these 4.3 liter engines is the fuel pressure regulator leaking. What happens is that when you shut the truck off, the fuel from the regulator leaks into the intake manifold causing a flooded condition when trying to start. The only way to know for sure is to connect a fuel pressure gauge to the service port at the back of the manifold and watch the fuel pressure when you shut the engine off. It is also possible that the Fuel pump check valve is not holding pressure. How does it start first thing in the morning?

2000 gmc jimmy hard start starting crank starts 2nd 3rd

listen when you turn on key to run not start listen for fuel pump .i would change fuel filter . you should hear the fuel pump rattle or thump . if no start check fuel filter again if no gas in filter or gas with pressure bad fuel pump or relay

It might be something as simple as a clogged fuel filter. Try that first as it is a cheap fix!! Good luck

Some pretty good arguments here.

fuel pumop isnt holding pressure to injectors

That’s not wrong

You have problem with exhaust system.
