Why is the Moon’s umbra shadow on the earth smaller than the actual moon’s diameter? (During a solar eclipse)?

Notice how the farther away from the object you get (behind it) the smaller the umbra gets?

because of the km from earth to moon that’s make it more smaller the umbra that we can see use a flash light and a small ball turn off the light put the flash light on and point the flash light to the ball and look the shadow

Because the sun is much larger than the moon.
