This is about physically observing the sabbath, not a question about which day is the sabbath.
Christians are not a party to the old covenant, of which the sabbath was the sign of that covenant. Why keep the sign of a covenant that ended?
Christians are party to the new covenant law of faith which does not include the letter of the law, such as physical things and requirements like keeping days.
Anything they may do away with Jewish traditions, they try to twist or make something just to prove that Judaism or the Old Testament is Obsolete. Sabbath which should be observed on Saturdays, they made it on Sundays,Their reasons it was made to observe the day Jesus rose from the dead and called it Day of the Risen Lord.
Christmas, it is never possible that Jesus will be born on late December as it is always winter time and no shepherd will be observing the dark sky and chilling cold of the night including the impossibility of the three Wise Men to be traveling on the desert and yet they did it just to take over the Passover Event of the Jewish that oftentimes fall on the same period. Plus it was taken from a Pagan belief (www.zeitgeistmovie.com).
Even Muslims had to go away from their original tradition by making Friday their day of Rest just to be different from the Jewish practice.
Sunday as it was said to be the day for the Sun giving light to the world is really supposed to be the First Day of the Week.
In Colossians 2:16-17, the Apostle Paul declared, “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.”
Similarly, Romans 14:5 says, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.” These Scriptures make it clear that, for the Christian, Sabbath-keeping is a matter of spiritual freedom, not a command from God.
It is impossible to separate observing the Sabbath from which day is the Sabbath because there is only one day in the Bible that the Creator God set apart as the Sabbath, and the 1st day of the week ain’t it.
Nominal Christians really do not observe much of anything because they have brought into the deception that they don’t have to do anything but believe in Messiah Yeshua to be saved. He did it all for them. This is a complete rejection of what the scriptures actually teach.
Truth Quest already showed you the proper day.
Those of The True Christian Faith strive to do so… it is not easy as all of us are subject to the same trials and temptations as any other mortal….. Truly observing The Sabbath does require physicaly observing… The Sabbath as established by God, not The Catholic cult, is from Sundown on Friday to sundown on Saterday… sadly the majority of even True Christians still follow the Catholic day and not The True Sabbath…. the Fourth Commandment has never been voided… dispite the Catholic cults attempt to do so…
To which sabbath are you referring? The sabbath of the Old Testament occurred on Saturday, the last day of the Jewish week.
The sabbath of the New Testament, wrongly brought forward from the Old Testament by squabbling new Jewish converts to Christianity, was observed on Saturday by these confused men.
Then came the Emperor Constantine, who started the catholic religion, decreed that the sabbath would be observed on Sunday, the first day of the Jewish week.
Except for the original sabbath day, observed on the last day of the week, they were all wrong.
For those of us who are born again Christians, every day is a sabbath day because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. We are all resting in Jesus’ arms all of the time everyday.
We no longer need to try to please God through our own puny efforts so our search for salvation through good works has ended. We rest in God’s Holy Arms.
When Jesus died the old law was put aside as accomplished.
I have to wonder why people who keep the Sabbath do not also do the sacrifices of lambs, goats, and calf’s.
The illustration of the sabbath law was that we should set aside time to be with our family’s and worship God. Since Jesus rose on Sunday then I believe that is the day we should set aside to worship God.
Even horses need one day of rest a week. So yes, I do believe humans need a day a week to rest, read the bible to our children.
go to church, etc.
Christ said the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. We are no longer under the old covenant that God made with the Jews, when Christ died He instituted a new covenant in His blood, that is what Christians today are under and we no longer keep the sabbath. God BLess
When you say “observe” the sabbath, are you talking about watching something closely or are you talking about obeying all the little rules about NO WORK WHATSOEVER and so forth…?
Basically, Christianity (to my way of thinking) is a system of rules where you pick the ones you like and explain away the things you find too burdensome…
Some do. But most Christians are not Jewish. Christians believe it is the old law. When Christ came most believe the old Law was abolished. The Bible as I have said before cannot be taken in part but Most Christians today only believe to their own understanding. Funny world isn’t it.
